The public is invited to celebrate the official unveiling of the Beyond the Sea Gallery-Café at 74 Main St. Saturday, April 17 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event will launch a season full of artist’s receptions and a variety of artisan trunk shows.

During the opening day, visitors can meet two Maine artists, Colleen Macklin and Elizabeth Scott O’Haverty, as they introduce their works to Beyond the Sea. Formerly of England and New York City, Elizabeth Scott O’Haverty, a Maine resident for nearly four decades, works with oil, acrylic, inks and pastel and many paintings include collage.

“My large theme concentrates on capturing the dynamics of ‘the arrested domestic moment,’ snapshots of every day life taken by that most amazing camera of all time, the human eye,” she said of her work.

O’Haverty’s show, “A Gathering,” will run through May 10.

Maine native Colleen Macklin of Seamack Designs will share her chakra-inspired line. She said that semi-precious stones and their connection to the earth and human energies have given her a new voice within her art.

“I have been studying the healing properties of semi-precious stones for approximately 15 years and have incorporated their meanings into my unique, handwoven jewelry designs,” she said.

Everyone is invited to come to the opening, explore the work and enjoy complimentary fare and refreshments. For more information, call 338-2100 or send e-mail to
