Stephen B. Sylvester, 82, died April 9, 2010, at a local health care facility.

He was born in Blue Hill April 24, 1927, the son of Leon and Prudence (Saunders) Sylvester. Steve was an Army veteran and a 50-year member of the Ira Berry Masonic Lodge of Blue Hill. Also belonged to the Anah Temple Shrine. He was a Scout leader in Belfast Troop 27; also Past President of Alpha Gamma RHO fraternity. Stephen was an avid sports fan and loved watching sports on TV. One of his favorite pastimes was camping.

He was predeceased by a son, Eugene, in 2008.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Geneva (Young) Sylvester, of Belfast; two sons, Andrew and his wife, Susan Sylvester, of Livermore, and Benjamin Sylvester of Massachusetts; a half-brother, Arthur Saunders, of New Hampshire; and six grandchildren.

A time of visitation will be held Tuesday, April 13, at the Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Ave., from 10-11 a.m., with funeral services at 11. Interment will follow at South Blue Hill Cemetery.
