At 8 p.m. Friday, April 23, members of the University of Southern Maine Opera Workshop will present The Falstaff Connection, an evening of operatic scenes that all deal with the Falstaff story. Twenty-five singers will be accompanied by music director Kathleen Scott with Ellen Chickering as overall director.

The concert will be held in Corthell Concert Hall. Tickets are $6, $3 for senior citizens and students; call the Music Box Office at 780-5555 for reservations.

Three composers who have set Shakespeare’s story of “The Merry Wives of Windsor” to music to produce include Otto Nicolai’s “Merry Wives of Windsor,” Giuseppe Verdi’s “Falstaff” and Ralph Vaughn-Williams’ “Sir John in Love.” Scenes from each of these works will be presented. Among the four students performing is Katherine Hall of Monroe, who will sing the role of Mistress Page in the “Merry Wives” scene.
