Jason Wesley Thurston Jr. celebrated his first birthday April 19.

He was born April 19, 2009, at Waldo County General Hospital in Belfast. He weighed 3 pounds, 5 ounces. He is the son of Hana and Jason Thurston of Northport and  the grandson of Rick and Sue Thurston of South Thomaston and of Zdenek Jurik of Camden and the late Hana Jurik.

Jason was born three months early and spent 79 days in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Eastern Maine Medical Center. He has come such a long way since his rough start.
