A Stockton Springs couple was arrested April 17 after they allegedly threatened the life of a Belfast woman over some money the woman’s boyfriend reportedly owed the couple.

Owen M. Bucklin, 48, was arrested a little after 9 p.m. on three counts of terrorizing, and one count each of burglary and refusing to submit to arrest. His wife, 51-year-old Sharon D. Bucklin, was arrested around 10 p.m that same night, and charged with tampering with a victim, terrorizing and harassment by phone.

Belfast Police Detective Bryan Cunningham said the trouble was alleged to have started over some money that a male resident at the Penobscot Terrace apartment complex reportedly owed to Owen Bucklin. Owen Bucklin wanted the money and called the resident’s home, Cunningham said, and when the resident’s girlfriend — who became the victim — told him he wasn’t home, Owen Bucklin went to their apartment anyway and allegedly pushed his way through the front door.

Cunningham said Owen Bucklin made various threats to the victim, including a threat to kill her, if he did not receive his money. According to Cunningham, police arrested Owen Bucklin at another Penobscot Terrace resident’s home. He was uncooperative in custody, Cunningham said, and a restraint chair had to be used.

About an hour later, Sharon Bucklin was arrested after she, too, allegedly called the victim’s home and threatened the woman’s life.

As of April 20, both Bucklins remained in custody at Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset, awaiting arraignment.
