Camden Civic Theatre is accepting applications for two annual scholarships to be awarded to Midcoast high school students who plan to pursue higher education in fields related to the performing arts.

Students graduating from high schools in Waldoboro, Thomaston, Rockland, Camden, and Belfast; from private high schools in the Midcoast; or completing their homeschool education in the region are eligible to apply for the Richard Simms and Timothy Rhodes scholarships. Students may major in theater, film, radio or television, including fields such as screenwriting/playwriting, set, lighting and sound design or post production. Midcoast students currently enrolled in undergraduate programs in need of tuition assistance also are eligible.

Application is by letter of interest describing plans for future studies and past experience in the performing arts. Students will be notified of the award the spring prior to their first (or next) semester of post-secondary study. The funds are awarded upon receipt by CCT of the recipient’s official grade report transcript showing they have successfully completed one semester of study with a minimum of a C average.

Application letters should be submitted via e-mail to info@camdencivictheatre.com by Friday, May 7.
