Mackey, Bradshaw lead Vikings in large vacation week meet

Only two Searsport track-and-field athletes were on hand to square off against dozens of competitors from several schools during an April 24 meet.

While the Viking girls had two competitors during the spring vacation week event, no Viking boys attended the meet.

The girls team scores were: Old Town 143, Orono 131, Mount Desert Island 72, Presque Isle 66, Greenville 54, Foxcroft Academy of Dover-Foxcroft 29, Searsport 27, Mattanawcook Academy of Lincoln 26, Fort Fairfield 19, Piscataquis 8 and Sumner 1.

The individual Viking results were:

1,600 meters — 2, Faith Mackey, 6:11.01. 

800 meters — 6, Mackey, 2:47.07.

Javelin — 2, Sara Bradshaw, 89-8.

Discus — 2, Bradshaw, 77-8.

Shot put — 5, Bradshaw, 26-9.5.
