Galerie Dufour in downtown Belfast will host a season-opening reception Friday, May 7, from 5-8 p.m. The art gallery features singular photography by Maine artist Charles Laurier Dufour. Both color and black-and-white photographs adorn the gallery walls. Most of the photographic artwork consists of fine art natural nudes and land/seascapes, with a few studio works thrown into the mix.
Recently one of Dufour’s natural nudes was awarded “First Place: B/W Category” at the Maine Photography Show 2010 in Boothbay Harbor, as well as “Best in Show” of the 756 entries juried by John Paul Caponigro.
The opening reception will kick off the gallery’s spring clearance, with 50 percent off all matted and all framed photographic works. “It’s time to make way for my summer exhibitions, and I can’t think of a better way to create wall space; everyone wins!” Dufour explained.
In addition to monthly gallery openings from May through December, this year Galerie Dufour will sell themed photography books featuring Dufour’s work. The first ones are expected to be available during the First Friday Art Walk in June.
