On behalf of the members of Loyal Rebekah Lodge 92 of Monroe, Brenda Baker, Noble Grand, recently presented Kenneth Clements, Monroe fire chief, with a check for $1,346.65 for the Monroe Fire Department. The money was raised through a fundraising activity which resulted from the Rebekahs’ receiving a grant from the International Association of Rebekah Assemblies Schuyler Colfax Humanitarian Award. The goal of the grant was to assist local Rebekah lodges in their support of a local organization or charity.
The Rebekahs held a basket bingo day, which included games of bingo, a 50/50 raffle, the raffle of a log cabin quilt made by the members, and the sale of snacks and other food items during the day. Members of the lodge provided a variety of themed gift baskets, gift certificates and door prizes.
Appreciation is expressed to several businesses that contributed door prizes, including Sears of Belfast, Subway, Swan Lake Grocery, Brooks Village Grocery, Tozier’s Market, Dudley’s Diner, J.L. Pawn Shoppe, EBS Building Supplies, Colburn Shoe Store, Hannaford’s, Dairy Queen, Paul’s True Value Hardware, J.P. Wentworth and H.P. Hood.
