Small group of Searsport Vikings strong at MDI meet

A handful of Searsport District High School track-and-field athletes enjoyed solid performances during Friday’s meet hosted by Mount Desert Island.

The girls team scores were: Mount Desert Island 171.5, Old Town 157.5, Hermon 83, Central 72, Mattanawcook Academy of Lincoln 58, Searsport 12, Calais 10 and Calvary Chapel 6.

The boys team scores were: Old Town 155, Mount Desert Island 147.5, Hermon 86.5, Central 77, Mattanawcook Academy 57, Calais 39, Calvary Chapel 16 and Searsport no score.

The individual Searsport girls results were:

100 meters — 17, Amelia Cross, 16.38.

800 meters — 4, Faith Mackey, 2:41.41.

3,200 meters — 2, Mackey, 13:13.94.

Long jump — 22, Gen Shepard, 9-3.5.

Javelin — 14, Shepard, 54-6.

Discus — 8, Shepard, 60-4.

The individual Searsport boys results were:

100 meters — 17, Arthur Leighton, 13.05; 19, Scott Broadley, 13.19; and 35, Dillian Moody, 14.62.

400 meters — 9, Ben Hartmann, 1:02.30; 16, Moody, 1:07.50; and 17, Tyler Greenlaw, 1:11.34.

800 meters — 10, Hartmann, 2:32.39.

Long jump — 8, Leighton, 16-2; and 14, Broadley, 14-9.5.

Javelin — 21, Jacob Bucklin, 85-3; 23, Jason Brooks, 78-3; and 33, Chas Evans, 52-4.

Discus — 19, Bucklin, 70-5; 23, Brooks, 67-7; 25, Greenlaw, 65-9; and 35, Evans, 53-1.

Shot put — 30, Bucklin, 27-7; 38, Evans, 24-8; 39, Greenlaw, 24-7.25; and 42, Brooks, 23-5.5.
