Kennadi Grover, left, a Georges Valley High School freshman who plays for the Midcoast Warriors U16 Amateur Athletic Union basketball team, gets tangled with a member of the Mainiacs U17 squad during an April 25 game at Lincolnville Central School. The play took place in the waning seconds of the game with the score tied. “I definitely remember that,” she said of the play. “There was like seven seconds left and I had the ball and I was just hoping that I would either make the layup or get fouled. But then I saw that she fell before me, and I was just hoping that it wasn’t an [player-control] foul.” Grover did get to the foul line but missed both free throws as regulation ended, and the game ended in a rare 54-54 tie after two overtimes.
