“Scarred Lands and Wounded Lives: The Environmental Footprint of War” is an award-winning film that will be shown Wednesday, May 19 at 6 p.m. in the Abbott Room of Belfast Free Library, 106 High St.

The film focuses on our society’s deep dependence on the natural world and the significant threat to our world posed by war and the preparation for war. “Scarred Lands and Wounded Lives” has been a finalist for Wildscreen, the world’s largest and most prestigious international wildlife and environmental film festival.

The screening will be followed by a discussion of the film and environmental/war issues. Admission is free, but donations are welcome. The evening is part of the monthly Community Forum series of the Peace and Justice Group of Waldo County. For more information, contact Diane Messer at 589-3240.
