With the middle of the high school regular season upon us, many Midcoast teams look to continue to stockpile victories on the baseball and softball diamonds as they eye the home stretch of the spring campaign.

A bundle of Knox, Waldo and Lincoln county teams played Wednesday, with the Georges Valley and Medomak Valley softball squads being the only ones to secure victories, with the Searsport baseball and softball teams and Georges Valley and Medomak Valley baseball squads falling short.

Georges Valley 10, St. Dominic 3 … At Thomaston, the Buccaneers plated four runs in the fourth inning and four more in the fifth to pull away from the visiting Saints of Lewiston to stay undefeated on the season.

Top hitters for the Bucs (7-0) were Tamra Wallce (home run, 2 singles, 3 RBIs), Kennadi Grover (2 singles), Jessie Veilleux (homrun), Katlyn Rick (single, 3 RBIs), Jill Bradbury (double), Rachel Frye (single) and Kelsie Thompson (single, RBI).

Meg Poulin led St. Dominic with two singles, while Meg Lawrence doubled and singled and Sara Goslin doubled.

Danielle Frye pitched for Georges Valley, allowing eight hits and four walks, while striking out six. Hannah Sterling was the Saints’ hurler, scattering 10 hits and seven walks, while fanning two.

Georges Valley (30.6379 Heal Points) is second in Western Class C. Telstar of Bethel (7-0, 36.8027 points) is first in the region.

Medomak Valley 13, Nokomis 3 … At Newport, the visiting Panthers (6-2) had their way with the Warriors and came away with a convincing 10-run victory.

After loading the bases leading 2-1 in the seventh inning, the next 11 at-bats for the Panthers plated 11 runs en route to the decisive victory.

Top hitters for the Panthers were Mallory Conary (triple, single, RBI), Kasey Benner (single, RBI), Vanessa Davis (single, RBI), Lindsay Ranquist (single, 4 RBIs), Alanna Vose (2 singles, 2 RBIs), Jessica Koon (single), Heidi Obuchon (single) and Ericka Christensen (single, RBI).

Sabrina Valliancourt (triple, single), Keri Malo (single), Jess Kentwebber (single), Taylor Lovely (single) and Megan Perry (single) led the Warriors at the plate.

Kayla Santheson allowed six hits and one walk, while striking out 12 to lead Medomak Valley from the pitching circle.

Medomak Valley (26.6016 points) is second in Eastern Class B. Hermon (7-0, 43.5547 points) is first in the region.

George Stevens Academy 13, Searsport 1 (6 inns.) … At Searsport, the Vikings (2-7) mustered only two hits against the visiting Eagles, while the visitors soared past Searsport in a mercy-rule shortened game.

Marissa Higgins and Katherine Cotter each singled for Searsport, while Higgins plated the lone run. Top hitters for GSA were Stevie Theoharidis (2 doubles, single), Rachelle Kane (double, single) and Shelby Candage (triple).

Olivia Quigley allowed 13 hits from the pitcher’s circle, while walking three and striking out eight for Searsport, Lydia Clapp and Anna. Clapp combined to throw a two-hitter for GSA, walking three and striking out nine.

Searsport (5.8594 points) is 17th in Eastern Class C. Central of East Corinth (9-1, 37.8906 points) is first in the region.


George Stevens Academy 9, Searsport 0 … At Searsport, the Vikings (4-4-1) were blanked by the visiting Eagles, an opponent SDHS had battled to a tie with just two weeks ago after the game was called due to darkness.

On Wednesday, Rocky Faunce, Jacob Allenwood and Allen Connor all singled to lead Searsport, while Josh Gale and Cam Lawson both doubled and singled to key GSA.

Nick Kane went the distance for the Eagles, allowing three hits and one walk, while striking out eight.

Evan Kingsbury struck out nine, walked six and allowed one hit through five innings for Searsport, while James Harvey allowed six hits and three walks, while striking out three in two innings of relief for the Vikings.

Searsport (21.6797 points) is seventh in Eastern Class C. Stearns of Millinocket (9-0, 37.5167 points) is first in the region.

St. Dominic 11, Georges Valley 0 (5 inns.) … At Thomaston, the host Bucs (3-4) could not find an answer to the potent Saints offense and committed four errors in the field as the hosts were blanked by the visitors.

Dylan Maloney doubled to lead Georges Valley, while top hitters for St. Dominic were Garrett Darnell (triple, 2 singles) and Alex Parker (triple, single).

Bryant Matthews, Maloney and Sam Tarbox all toed the rubber for the Bucs, allowing a combined nine hits and five walks, while striking out three.

Chris Bryant pitched the full five innings, allowing two hits and a walk, while fanning six, for St. Dom’s.

Gorges Valley (6.7347 points) is 10th in Western Class C. Livermore Falls (7-2, 31.8992 points) is first in the region.

Nokomis 4, Medomak Valley 1 … At Newport, the Panthers (3-5) scored first, but the Warriors scored often as the hosts pulled away for a three-run win.

Jared Seamans took the hill for Nokomis, allowing five hits and one walk, while striking out three.

For the Panthers, Taylor Wiliamson went five innings, allowed seven hits and two walks, while striking out five. Dustin Osier worked one inning off hitless relief.

Dillon Reed, Isaac Durkee, Williamson, Alex Greenrose (double) and Shane Osier had hits to lead Medomak Valley.

Ethan Pearl singled twice for Nokomis, while Derek Amaroso rapped a double.

Medomak Valley (10.9375 points) is 14th in Eastern Class B. Waterville (8-1, 42.3828 points) is first in the region.
