An arrest or summons does not constitute a finding of guilt. An individual charged with a crime is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty at criminal proceedings.

Law enforcement officials with the Belfast Police Department reported the following activity between May 5 and May 11.

April 30 (late entry)
Allan M. Hurd, 18, was summoned for failing to show proof of insurance.

May 1 (late entry)
A man backing out of a parking space on Main Street backed into the car of a woman who had stopped in front of a store at about 11 a.m. Mari Grondin, 24, of Waldo had stopped her Ford four-door in front of the store to drop off a passenger. The passenger had gotten out and was standing next to the vehicle with the door open. Kevin Hooper, 43, of Belfast was parked in a space and backed out of it. Hooper backed into Grondin. Damage to Grondin’s car was estimated at $1,000, ande damage to the 2001 Dodge van Hooper was driving was also estimated at $1,000.

May 3 (late entry)
A woman backing out of a parking space on Fahey Street struck a car that was parked next to her at about 11:45 a.m. Jessica M. Richards, 28, of Belfast was backing out of a parking space when she struck the driver’s side rear door and quarter panel of the adjacent car, owned by Ivan A. Davis, 68, of Liberty. Richards said she was distracted by her sick son in the seat behind her. Damage to Richards’ 1996 Dodge pickup truck was estimated at $100, while damage to Davis’ car was estimated at $2,000.

May 4 (late entry)
Laura J. Walker, 26, of Belfast was summoned for speeding 59 mph in a 45 mph zone on Route 1.

Nan Borton, 69, of Belfast was traveling east on Miller Street at about 1 p.m. The right travel lane was blocked, so she had to go around the barricade. Lucinda H. Brown, 23, of Brooks was pulling out of an apartment parking lot and was unaware that the lane was blocked. Borton had no place to go and was struck by Brown. Damage to Borton’s 2007 Mini Cooper two-door was estimated at $4,500, while damage to Brown’s 2000 Pontiac four-door was estimated at $1,000.

Albert J. Moores, 48, of Belfast was summoned for failing to stop at a stop sign.

May 5
Dennis W. Merry, 22, of Searsport was summoned for failing to stop at a stop sign.

Christopher W. O’Brien, 26, of Belfast was summoned for two counts of false public alarm or report, and arrested for a probation violation.

David A. Linscott, 28, of Searsport was arrested for burglary and theft.

Daniel A. Carchide, 29, of Searsport was summoned for speeding 49 mph in a 30 mph zone on Marsh Road.

Thomas W. Flacke, 67, of Morrill was summoned for speeding 46 mph in a 30 mph zone on Marsh Road.

May 6
Ronald L. Yeaton, 27, of Belfast was summoned for criminal mischief.

Heidi A. Resh, 29, of Belfast was summoned for speeding 51 mph in a 35 mph zone on Route 141.

Terri J. Ingraham, 31, of Union was summoned for theft.

Robert Hyatt, 59, of Greensboro, N.C., was summoned for criminal trespass.

Melissa A. Eckardt, 22, of Mastic Beach, N.Y., was stopped in traffic on Route 141 at about 6 p.m. She was waiting to turn left onto Robbins Road when Michael A. Kelley, 34, of Bangor ran into her from behind. Damage to Eckardt’s 2008 Nissan two-door was estimated at $2,000, and damage to Kelley’s 2009 Hyundai was also estimated at $2,000.

May 7
Tyler Damon, 18, of Stockton Springs was arrested for violation of condition of release.

Sandie B. Travis, 44, of Swanville was arrested on a warrant for unpaid fees.

May 8
Harry J. Richter, 67, was summoned for leaving the scene of a property damage accident on High Street.

Christopher Shadyak, 44, of Unity was going west on Route 137 at about 5:55 a.m. when a deer ran out from behind a building and into his path. Shadyak was unable to stop his 2003 Chevrolet pickup truck in time and hit the deer. The deer went up and over the hood of the truck and into the windshield. It landed on the ground and ran off. Damage to Shadyak’s truck was estimated at $5,500. Shadyak was not injured.

May 9
Kristle L. Staples, 29, of Belfast was arrested for domestic assault, criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon, violation of condition of release and obstructing the report of crime or injury.

May 10
Spencer H. Yeo, 22, of Prospect was summoned for operating after suspension.

Pamela J. Elwell, 40, of Northport was summoned for failing to show proof of insurance.
