Wiscasset Raceway will kick off its 41st racing season on Sunday, May 23.

There will be racing this season in the Steel’s Real Rods & Customs Late Model Division, The U.S. Cellular Super Streets, The New England Transmission Strictly Streets, The Twisted Tea Mini-Stocks, and racing in the new Outlaw and Ray Haskell Ford 6 Cylinder Enduro Divisions.

Opening Day 2010 also is student day. All students are admitted free May 23. Children also can enjoy the track’s new video arcade.

The track also has a new menu from Hafford’s Restaurant in Waterville, featuring hand-cut French fries and a pulled-pork sandwich.

There will also be a celebration and honoring of U.S. soldiers with “A Salute to the Troops” ceremony from Operation Recognition, a nonprofit, nonpartisan group founded to deliver a thank you to servicemen and women. Wiscasset Raceway will support Operation Recognition again in 2010. For more information go online to operationrecognition.com.

The gates open Sunday, May 23 at 11 a.m. with racing starting at 2 p.m. The national anthem will be performed by singer Kait Garland.
