Waldo County Technical Center’s horticulture and natural resources students who are members of the Waldo County Future Farmers of America chapter attended the FFA State Convention at the University of Maine in Orono on May 6 and 7. They attended career development events and participated in business meetings and leadership activities during the two-day gathering.

The students won first place in the Floriculture, Nursery/Landscape, Environment/ Natural Resources and Dairy Foods judging events. They won second place in the Forestry event. Students also won first, second and third places as individuals.

First-place environment/natural resources team: Erica Badger, Donald DInsmore, Steve Hodgdon, Andrea Proctor

First-place dairy foods judging team: Amanda Barnes, Jesse Caldwell, Devon Devaney, Kendra Strickland

Second-place forestry team: Erica Badger, Donald Dinsmore, Steve Hodgdon, Andrea Proctor

Job interview individual award: 5th – Kyle Littlefield

The floriculture and environment/natural resources teams will be competing at the Eastern States Exposition in Springfield, Mass., in September and at the FFA National Convention in Indianapolis in October.The Waldo County FFA chapter is looking for funding at all levels to help pay for these trips.
