The newly formed Belfast Area High School Envirothon team competed at the regional meet at Unity College May 21 and brought back a second-place trophy.

By placing second, the team qualified to move on to the Maine State Envirothon Finals at Husson University in Bangor May 27.

The regional coordinator said of all teams moving on to the state level, “This is an incredible accomplishment — I know some teams have been working a number of years to get this!”

Team members are Lydia Rocheleau, Stephen Colby and Kellie Walker. Head coach is David Thomas. Numerous community mentors and other BAHS staff also assisted in coaching the team. This team is part of the BAHS Science and Engineering Club.
