Searsport experienced a tough day on the diamonds Tuesday as the Vikings lost to host Orono in both baseball and softball. The Viking baseball squad fell 18-5 and the Viking softball team lost 12-0 to the Red Riots.

Searsport baseball (6-6-1,  59.5703 Heal Points) is fifth in Eastern Class C. Calais (10-2, 74.1314 points) is first in the region.

Searsport softball (3-10, 17.3828 points) is 14th in Eastern Class C, while Calais (12-0, 73, 9530 points) is first in the region.


Even though the Vikings held a four-run lead after the first inning, Orono came out strong in the subsequent innings to win 15-5.

Evan Kingsbury, Allen Connor, and Darren Harriman pitched for the Vikings and, combined, allowed 15 hits. Stoddart and Mowrer threw for Orono and gave up five hits.

Anthony Cyr led the Red Riots with a triple, double and two singles. Also, Tyler Eddy had four runs with a triple and a single and Brandon LeVasseur knocked in three runs with a double and single.

Josiah Brazier tripled and Shane Seekins had a double for Searsport.

Searsport scored four runs in the first inning and one in the second. Orono scored seven runs in the second inning, four in the third and seven in the fourth.


The Vikings fell hard in their game and lost without any runs in a game stopped after five innings.

Olivia Quigley pitched for Searsport and allowed 13 hits, with two strikeouts. Andi Foster pitched for Orono and gave up one hit, with eight strikeouts.

For Orono, Jill Tuell had two doubles, a single, four RBIs and three runs. Elizabeth Fox (double, single, 2 runs) and Kristen Douglass (double, single, run) also contributed.

Marissa Higgins had a single for the Vikings.
