The downtown Galerie Dufour will host an opening reception Friday, June 4, from 5 to 8 p.m. in concert with BelfastArts’ Friday Gallery Walk. Galerie Dufour, 94 Main St., features singular photography by Maine artist Charles Laurier Dufour, exhibiting new work monthly June through December.

This show, “Prospective: 2010,” features small framed works that provide a preview of the six exhibitions of new works that will make up the 2010 season. Both color and black and white photographs adorn the gallery walls. Most of the photographic artwork consists of fine art natural nudes and land/seascapes, with a few studio works thrown into the mix.

Available at the June 4 opening will be Dufour’s first paperback photo book, a retrospective collection of works from last year titled “Galerie Dufour: Nu 2009.” Dufour plans to create a number of themed photo books, a few of which will be available this year.

Earlier this spring, one of Dufour’s natural nudes was awarded first place in the black and white category of “Maine Photography Show 2010” in Boothbay Harbor, as well as Best in Show of the 756 entries juried by renowned photographer and illustrator John Paul Caponigro.
