Trekkers’ fifth annual Trekkapalooza showcased a diverse and talented set of Maine-based acts in an energizing and fun Battle of the Bands Saturday night, May 29 at the Strand Theatre. Around 10 p.m., Chaos Sauce was named best Bus Band of 2010.

Trekkapalooza 2010 had been set for Jan. 2 but was postponed due to a winter storm. A number of Midcoast bands were featured this year including Waldo County’s OdLaw; Tastes Like Chicken, named Bus Band 2009 at the last Trekkapalooza and placing second this year; Lost Generation, a punk rock band from Appleton; the Vicky Andres Band; Chaos Sauce; and the Rockland-based Philosoraptor.

Chaos Sauce is a collective of musicians that includes members of Knox County’s Waiting On Ian. The rock/progressive/alternative/funk/fusion outfit features Elias Edwards-Jenks on guitar, keyboards and vocals; Ian Cook on bass guitar; Peter Griffith on drums and percussion; Thomas Meehan on drums, percussion, guitar and vocals; and Ned Rich on guitar, drums and vocals. Earlier this month, Chaos Sauce opened for Rustic Overtones at the Augusta Civic Center.

All proceeds from the show benefits Trekkers, a nonprofit, outdoor-based mentoring program that connects caring adults with young people through expeditionary learning, community service and adventure-based education.
