MoJO, the Mondaynite Jazz Orchestra, will perform a concert in the Camden Amphitheatre Monday, June 7 at 6:30 p.m. MoJO is a 17-piece band with vocalist. The event is free. The amphitheater is next to the library on Atlantic Avenue; bring blankets or lawn chairs for seating.

Mondaynite Jazz Orchestra is one of the few big bands in Maine. Member musicians hail from Bath to Belfast and, sharing a common passion for the genre, try to promote and preserve big band music for our cultural future, said band manager Ray Faria. MoJO also will be performing during Camden’s Festival of Independence on Sunday, July 4 at 1 p.m., also in the Camden Amphitheatre.

“While a good part of our library consists of traditional pieces — a la Count Basie & Duke Ellington — the brunt of it includes many contemporary arrangements and compositions, some homegrown by Maine composer/arrangers. Swing, blues, Latin, funk, ballads, dance and listening music are all well represented,” Faria said.
