To end the season, the Belfast Bay Watershed Coalition offers two birding expeditions. Tuesday, June 8, in conjunction with the Waldo County YMCA, the bird bus will again take to the highway. Seth Benz will lead the expedition to where the birds are. Reservations should be made by calling the YMCA at 338-4598. Participants should meet in the YMCA parking lot on Route 52 in Belfast at 8:30 a.m. The cost is $10, and payment must be made in advance.

On Saturday, June 26, the BBWC is offering a puffin cruise on a chartered boat out of either Port Clyde or New Harbor. Here’s a chance to view these diminutive and colorful sea birds in their own habitat and to learn how puffins were brought back to Eastern Egg Rock off the coast of Maine. Participants may also see Common Artic and Roseate Terns or Laughing Gulls. This trip depends on the number of people interested. Call the YMCA at 338-4598 for details.

The Belfast Bay Watershed Coalition is a group of individuals working to support conservation and stewardship of natural, scenic, historic and public access resources in the watershed through research, community-building and education.
