John James Macom, son of Earl and Becky Macom of Morrill, graduated from Boston University May 16 with a master’s degree in public health.

John graduated from Belfast Area High School in 2000, and then earned an undergraduate degree from Boston University in 2004, majoring in international relations and political science.

Following his graduation from BU in 2004, he went into the Peace Corps for two years in Mongolia. When those two years were up, he went to Thailand and taught for a year.

It was upon returning home from his time overseas that he decided to pursue his master’s degree in public health. He has now received notice that he has also been awarded a J. William Fulbright award.
