Rockland District High School baseball catcher Joe Nelsen gives it his all against Medomak Valley High School May 21 as he dives to the plate in an attempt to tag out Panther runner Isaac Durkee racing in from third base during a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class B regular-season battle. “It was a good [pitch],” Nelsen said of the offering from teammate Gentry Burch that eluded him and set up this play. “It just went off my glove and went like five feet behind me. I thought it kept going and I didn’t see Gentry because he was pitching. I thought I could get [Durkee] … I just dove and I thought I’d be there in plenty of time but I wasn’t. I just missed him. Visiting Medomak Valley won the game 20-6 in six innings.
