An arrest or summons does not constitute a finding of guilt. An individual charged with a crime is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty at criminal proceedings.

Law enforcement officials with the Belfast Police Department reported the following activity between May 26 and June 1.

May 21 (late entry)
Tina M. Hall, 35, of Swanville was summoned for false public alarm or report.

John A. Shifflett, 47, of Belfast was summoned for failing to stop at a red light.

May 22 (late entry)
Richard A. Newman, 52, of Prospect was summoned for speeding 67 mph in a 45 mph zone on Back Searsport Road.

May 25 (late entry)
Susan Cutting, 43, of Belfast was summoned for speeding 39 mph in a 25 mph zone on Waldo Avenue.

William S. McGruder, 52, of Northport was summoned for driving to endanger.

Vincent A. Morgan, 44, of Belfast was summoned for theft by unauthorized taking or transfer.

Debra L. Wark, 42, of Belfast was summoned for theft by unauthorized taking or transfer.

Michael A. Berry, 17, of Belfast was summoned for an inspection sticker violation and for operating an unregistered motor vehicle.

At about 8:20 p.m., John D. Holbrook, 48, of Hope was traveling south on Route 141 when a moose ran into the path of his 1999 GMC SUV. Holbrook was unable to avoid hitting the animal. Damage to Holbrook’s car was estimated at $2,000. Neither Holbrook nor his passenger was injured in the accident.

May 27
Sharon M. Davenport, 54, of Waldo was summoned for an inspection sticker violation.

Mary L. Conley, 56, of Swanville was summoned for an inspection sticker violation.

Anne D. Rahn, 67, of Philadelphia was summoned for speeding 39 mph in a 25 mph zone on Main Street.

Kenneth H. Skillings, 35, of Searsport was summoned for speeding 62 mph in a 45 mph zone on Back Searsport Road.

May 28
Penny L. Peaslee, 35, of Swanville was summoned for failing to show proof of insurance and for failing to stop at a stop sign.

Jean C. Guyette, 45, of Ellsworth was summoned for a seatbelt violation.

Bradley Beeton, 23, of Belfast was summoned for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Ralph F. Best, 68, of The Rock, Ga., was summoned for a seatbelt violation.

At about midnight, Sharon L. Nickerson, 47, of Swanville was stopped in traffic on the off ramp on Belmont Avenue. James R. Lear, 49, of Belfast pulled up behind Nickerson’s 2008 Toyota SUV. Lear was distracted by his young son in the back seat, and when he looked back to talk to his son, Lear’s foot came off the brake and the car went forward, hitting the rear of Nickerson’s car. Damage to Nickerson’s car was estimated at $1,000, while damage to Lear’s 1998 Chevrolet two-door was estimated at $500. No one was injured in the accident.

May 29
Amber D. Clark, 20, of Brooks was summoned for theft by unauthorized taking or transfer (shoplifting).

Michael J. Cirullo, 58, of Farmington, Conn., was summoned for speeding 54 mph in a 35 mph zone on Searsport Avenue.

Katrina M. Mitchell, 28, of Belfast was summoned for operating after suspension.

May 30
Harrison R. Hightower, 26, of Brooks was summoned for speeding 49 mph in a 30 mph zone on Marsh Road.

Ramya Moorthy, 26, of Middletown, Conn., was summoned for speeding 49 mph in a 35 mph zone on Searsport Avenue.
