A woman was summoned by Belfast police last week after surveillance footage from a retail store reportedly revealed she attempted to return or exchange an item she had not purchased.

Terri J. Ingraham, 31, of Union was summoned for theft by deception on June 3 after police said video surveillance from the Ocean State Job Lots store on Starrett Drive showed her placing a vacuum cleaner into her cart and then pretending it was an item she had purchased and wanted to return.

According to police, Ingraham was summoned in April for committing a similar offense. In this most recent incident, police said Ingraham received store credit for the vacuum cleaner she had taken and attempted to return.

Belfast Police Chief Jeffrey Trafton said the department’s investigation of Ingraham is ongoing.
