A traditional shape note singing is held the second Monday of every month. This month’s singing will run 7 to 9 p.m. June 14 in First Church Fellowship Hall, between Church and Court streets with the entrance on Spring Street.

All tunes are sung first with just the notes, then with words. The energetic four-part unaccompanied singing tradition dates from Colonial New England. Books (“Sacred Harp” and “Northern Harmony”) are available for loan and purchase.

Newcomers are most welcome. For more information, call 338-1265 or 594-5743.
