Belslow Studios, in cooperation with the Belfast Rotary Club and in collaboration with the Belfast Academy of Music, will present Gilbert and Sullivan’s operetta “H.M.S Pinafore” during Belfast’s Harbor Fest Aug. 21 and 22, under a tent by the bay at Steamboat Landing.

Savoyards and fellow lovers of fine music, theater and dance should plan ahead for auditions Monday and Tuesday, June 21 and 22 at the Belfast Academy of Music (former Pierce Elementary School), Church Street by Northport Avenue, from 7 to 9 p.m.

Music direction will be by John Cameron with vocal coaching by Diana Brookes Brown. Auditions are for eight principal singers, five men and three women; and 24 choristers, 12 men and 12 women.

This nautically-themed musical romance, subtitled “The Lass who loved a Sailor,” pokes fun at the class-bound nature of late 19th-century English society, with particular relish towards the British Admiralty.

Prospective cast members and interested orchestral musicians may contact the production team via e-mail to info@belslowstudios.org. All techies (lights, sound, costumes, set) are welcome, too.

Belslow Studios is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization with a mission to create opportunities for youth in the performing arts. This fundraising event will support ongoing projects with special emphasis on plans to acquire and renovate the Belfast Opera House.
