Waldo County voters, on balance, approved three of the four bond questions on the June 8 ballot, rejecting a $23 million bond issue for capital investments related to economic development. The local results are similar to margins at the state level where, according to an early, unofficial report from the Bangor Daily News all four questions carried, with the economic development bond passing by 1 percent.

The following results have been reported in voting on the four bond issues voters were asked to decide on (questions 2 through 5 on the ballot):

Question 2 read: “Do you favor a $26,500,000 bond issue that will create jobs through investment in an off-shore wind energy demonstration site and related manufacturing to advance Maine’s energy independence from imported foreign oil, that will leverage $24,500,000 in federal and other funds and for energy improvements at campuses of the University of Maine System, Maine Community College System and Maine Maritime Academy in order to make facilities more efficient and less costly to operate?”
