He’s still too young to appreciate it, but 4-year old Clayton Wilson is a true miracle. This week, the boy and his parents, Tim and Amy Robbins-Wilson of Belfast, were honored in a special celebration in Washington, D.C. Sen. Susan Collins welcomed the Wilson family to the nation’s capital at a reception, hosted by the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, honoring “champion children” from around the country.

Clayton was born prematurely and was rushed to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, where he was put on a respirator and closely monitored. Today, he is happy and healthy.

Each year, the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals champions program designates a champion child in every state who has bravely battled a serious injury or illness. Each family then travels to Washington, D.C., in June to meet with members of their congressional delegation and with the president.
