Sandra J. Callahan, 65, died at her residence June 7, 2010.

She was born in Long Beach, Calif., March 29, 1945, a daughter of Robert and Myrtle (Slayback) Bonham.

She was a virtuoso artist, designer, miniaturist, doll maker and collector; an avid gamer, a naturalist who believed in love and respect for all living things. She was a spiritualist and thaumaturge; a chronicler and teller of tales and a vocal nonconformist. She was a lover of music and pro-wrestling — back when it was good. She was a believer in fairies and mystical creatures, but above all else she was a loving and fiercely devoted friend, daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She was predeceased by her parents.

She is survived by her husband of 31 and a half years, Malcolm L. Callahan, of Montville; six children, Michele Suzanne Philbrick, Robbie Douglas Tyler, Michael Anthony Vitacolonna, Nichol Marie Callahlan, Randy Starr Vitacolonna, Amber Lee Callahan; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Private services will be held for the family.

Arrangements are with Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home, Belfast. Online condolences may be offered to the family at ripostafh.com.
