Jessica Tracy of Bangor High School has won the 13th annual Liberty Graphics Art and Our Natural Environment scholarship contest. She will be awarded $1,000 for her winning piece, a chalk and pastel painting of a forest at twilight titled “Gravity” that was chosen from artwork submitted by students statewide.

For 13 years, Liberty Graphics has offered the scholarship to encourage Maine students in their artistic endeavors and continued education. The contest is open to all Maine high school seniors who are residents of the state.

“We’re pleased to offer young artists an opportunity to present their work. Each year we’re faced with the difficult task of choosing a winner from among many worthy submissions,” said Tom Opper, owner of Liberty Graphics.

Since 1978, Liberty Graphics has printed nature-themed art on T-shirts using environmentally friendly water-based ink. For more information about the student art contest and Liberty Graphics, visit
