This summer, Come Boating! will offer a community sailing program in addition to its community rowing program. Experienced skippers will take up to four people on free two-hour sails on Belfast Harbor and Penobscot Bay on a Drascomb sailboat. Sails are scheduled several times a week. No previous sailing experience is required.

Participants must sign up in advance on the registration forms that are in the box at the Come Boating! boat shed near the boat launch.

Sails are expected to take place on Tuesday or Wednesday nights and Saturday or Sunday afternoons until fall. They are weather dependent and may be canceled or shortened by the skipper. Sails are scheduled for Wednesday, June 23 at 4:30 p.m., Sunday, June 27 at 3 p.m., Tuesday, June 29 at 5:30 p.m., and Wednesday, June 30 at 4:30 p.m. The July schedule will be posted at the Come Boating! boat shed and online at comeboating.org.

Participants should wear shoes and bring sunscreen, sunglasses, water, and a jacket.  Come Boating! will provide life jackets. Alcohol is not permitted on the sailboat.

Come Boating! offers community rowing in its 32-foot pilot gigs several mornings and afternoons each week. Participants must sign up in advance at the boat shed.

As a community boating organization, Come Boating!’s programs are intended to preserve and broaden the maritime heritage shared by the Belfast area community and strengthen its connection to the sea.
