Richard James Whitcomb, 74, died June 15, 2010.

He was born in Waldo March 14, 1936, a son of Ralph and Lillian (Wilton) Whitcomb. He worked on the pickup crew in the poultry industry and mowed lawns in area cemeteries.

He was predeceased by his parents; two sisters, Alice Marshall and Eva Greenwood; six brothers, Fremont, Eli, Frank, Carl, Lewis and Robert; a nephew, Eli “Sonny” Whitcomb; and two nieces, Beverly (Dyer) Martin and Brenda Greenwood.

Survivors include a daughter, Carol Ann Kinnie, of Augusta; a son, Norman Whitcomb, of New York; five sisters, Ida Dyer of Belfast, Ella Bowden of Winterport, Hazel Gallant and her husband, Alexander, of Belfast, Gertrude Whitcomb of Waldo and Eleanor Stratton and her husband, Earle, of Enfield, Conn.; a brother, W. Francis Whitcomb, of Coopers Mills; a sister-in-law, Vera Whitcomb, of Brooks; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.

Private services will be held at Paul Yard in Waldo. Arrangements are with Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast.
