Members of Mount View’s Class of 2010 received a very special gift from the Unity Foundation at a presentation during graduation marching practice June 4.

Thanks to funding provided by the Unity Foundation to Future MSAD 3, each senior was presented with a Mount View collectible. The collectibles are freestanding wooden blocks featuring a custom original watercolor of the new Mount View school complex by Maine artist Sandy Manship. Future MSAD 3 is the exclusive vendor of Mount View memorabilia manufactured by Fernwood Artworks of Maine.

A custom stamp on the back of each collectible reads: “To the Class of 2010 —good luck in all you do! From Future MSAD 3 and The Unity Foundation, June 4, 2010.”

The Mount View Class 0f 2010 is the first class to hold its commencement ceremonies in the new Mount View School complex. In recognition of this historic event, the Unity Foundation wanted to present a lasting keepsake to each senior.

The Mount View Class of 2010 has also distingushed itself by leaving an enduring legacy to Mount View and alumni with the gift of a Mustang statue near the entrance to the new facility.

During the presentation to the seniors, Unity Foundation representative Lori Roming acknowledged the outstanding contributions of the class of 2010, and extended best wishes.

Members attending the event from Future MSAD3 to help distribute the Fernwoods to the 120 senior class graduates were: Lori Roming, representing Unity Foundation, and Future Board members Beverly Winship, Barbara Higgins, Barrie Fernald, Marie McCormick, Vicki Kupferman, Marsha Shibles and Paula Miron.

Future MSAD3, a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization, was established in 2004 with a mission to conduct fundraising activities to support facility and program enhancements in the new Mount View complex in Thorndike.

The original board set its sights on funding the performing arts campaign and then athletics, with the intent of funding specific enhancements that the state and district could not fund. Future is now working on funding needed utilities and athletic enhancements.
