Deborah Ann Hayden received a Ph.D. in medieval Irish language and literature from the University of Cambridge May 15. Hayden is a 1999 graduate of Camden-Rockport High School. She completed undergraduate degrees in French and Latin at Wellesley College, where she graduated summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, and at the University of Cambridge, where she also earned a master’s degree from the Department of Anglo-Saxon, Norse and Celtic at Cambridge in 2006.

Dr. Hayden is the daughter of Elizabeth W. and James E. Hayden Sr. of Islesboro, formerly of Camden. She is currently employed as a lecturer in modern Irish language and Celtic philology at the University of Cambridge. When she is in the United States, Hayden lives on Islesboro.
