“Rhythms, Patterns and Cycles,” work by featured artist Kay Sullivan will enliven the downtown First Light Gallery during the Friday night art walk July 2. Many of the gallery’s artists will be on hand from 5 to 8 p.m.

Sullivan’s drawings and paintings are based on repeat visits to the woods, beaches and lakes of Maine. Her pastels and oils weave together complementary colors as she explores the light moving past her eyes, the fresh air and nature’s patterns and rhythms. She also presents graphite and charcoal drawings.

Sullivan received her master of fine arts degree from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. After a few years in Philadelphia, she has moved back to New England and lives in Palermo. Her work is held in many private collections.

Also on exhibit are Becky Whight’s acrylics and encaustics; Renate Klein’s watercolors; portraits and florals in pastel and Prismacolor pencils by Marsha Townsend; Leigh Osgood’s landscapes in pastel; Lucinda Talbot’s mixed media collages of Maine scenes; and Dan Bennett’s fine jewelry.

Gallery hours are Sundays and Mondays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Tuesdays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Wednesdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Fridays to 8 p.m.). For more information, call 338-3626.

The exhibit will be up through the month of July. First Light Gallery is located at the intersection of Main and High streets.
