An arrest or summons does not constitute a finding of guilt. An individual charged with a crime is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty at criminal proceedings.

Law enforcement officials with Troop D of the Maine State Police responded to the following incidents in Waldo County during the past week. Anyone with information regarding ongoing investigations is asked to call 800-452-4664.

June 14
Trooper Jonah O’Roak investigated a criminal mischief complaint on Bluff Road in Northport. The victim reported someone had driven a vehicle around on their lawn and caused extensive damage. Evidence was collected from the scene, and the incident remains under investigation.

June 15
Trooper Luke Cunningham investigated a burglary in the town of Liberty. Power tools and firearms were reported stolen from a residence, and the investigation is ongoing.

June 16
Trooper Bethany Couturier responded to a motor vehicle crash on Halldale Road in Montville. The operator of the vehicle, 72-year-old Howard Mehuren of Liberty, was subsequently arrested for operating under the influence and taken to the Waldo County Jail.

Couturier investigated a report of an assault on Lincolnville Road in Belmont. The victim reported Amanda Foster, 23, of Unity had struck her in the side of the face with a beer bottle. Foster was arrested and charged with aggravated assault.

June 17
Trooper Jonathan Russell responded to a property-damage motor vehicle crash at the intersection of Route 3 and Fenwick Road in Belmont. Russell’s investigation determined that a juvenile male had been the operator of the vehicle, and that the juvenile had been operating with a suspended license. The juvenile was summoned for the offense.
