Roots & Tendrils invites music lover to start their Fourth of July festivities early. Heather Maloney, a singer/songwriter from Turner Falls, Mass. will perform Saturday, July 3 at 8 p.m. at Roots & Tendrils, 2 Cross St. Admission at the door will be $5.

Writing and performing jazz with Grammy nominee Hui Cox in Manhattan; studying classical operatic, classical Indian and improvisational jazz vocals; and dropping everything to live at a silent meditation retreat center are among the experiences that inform Maloney’s voice, sound and songs. With last fall’s release of her debut album “Cozy Razor’s Edge,” she is quickly becoming known for her powerhouse performances, highly original songwriting, memorable melodies,  expressive vocals and evocative lyricism. “Cozy Razor’s Edge” is a compellingly diverse collection of songs, each one alive, inspired and individual.
