Brooks Park Boosters Inc. present the 56th annual Brooks Field Day, July 3 and 4 at the Brooks Community Park:

Saturday, July 3

2 p.m. – The inaugural Independence Day Pageant will be held at the Harvest Home Grange. Age groups and tank top colors: Ages 4-6, red tank tops. Ages 7-12, blue tank tops. Ages 13-17, white tank tops.

Sunday, July 4

7-9:30 a.m. – Community breakfast at the Varney Building

8 a.m. – “Let Freedom Ring” five-mile Fun Run ($7 entry)

8-9 a.m. – Horse pulling weigh-in

10 a.m. – Parade through town – “Happy Birthday, America” theme

11:30 a.m. – Horse pulling starts

Noon – Chicken barbecue ($7) Special thanks to the volunteers from the Roberts Family who made this event possible.

– Live Music provided by Dale Hustus and the Marsh River Singers

1 p.m. – Kids events (Free activities: pedal tractor, face-painting, coloring contest, arts and crafts, sack race, pie-eating contest, three-legged race, tug of war – teams of 5, etc.)

2 p.m. – Arm-wrestling (Men’s featherweight, medium and heavy; women’s classes)  Minimum of four per class

3 p.m. Weight-lifting (weight-lifting and arm-wrestling trophies in memory of Chris Ingraham)

– Sweepstakes horse pull

4:30 p.m. – Pig scramble ($1 entry)

5:30 – 6:45 p.m. – American Roots (bluegrass band)

6 p.m. – 20-foot horse pull

7:30-10 p.m. – Country Mist (live music)

Fireworks (once horse pull is over between 9:30 and 10 p.m.)

Concession open at 8 a.m.

Game booths open at 11a.m. run by the Mustang Youth Football League (proceeds from the game booths go to this organization)

Admission for adults is $5; kids 12 and under are free.
