The District 2 Little League all-star tournament pressed on June 30 with six games involving Midcoast squads on the docket.

On the baseball diamond, the Rockland 11- and 12-year-olds defeated Waldo County 9-0, the Camden-Rockport 9-10s beat Waldoboro 20-6, the Waldo County 11-year-olds bested Knox Suburban 12-2 in five innings, the Belfast 9-10s defeated Rockland 13-3 in four innings and the Belfast 11-12s defeated Lincoln County 7-2.

In softball, the Lincoln County 11-12s defeated Waldoboro 14-1 in four innings.

Baseball

At Waldoboro June 30, Nick Mazurek and his teammates were on their games as the Rockland 11-12s defeated Waldo County 9-0.

Mazurek was one out from a no-hitter on the mound in the sixth inning before Waldo County’s Jake Black ripped a double well over the head of the center fielder to the wall to break up the bid. Mazurek retired the next batter and ended the game allowing one hit and one walk, while fanning 13 batters.

Alex Canning and Nathan Wren pitched for Waldo County, scattering a combined 10 hits and four walks, while striking out six.

Top hitters for Rockland were Mazurek (2 doubles, 3 RBIs, 2 runs), Keenan Hendricks (home run, single, 2 RBIs, 2 runs), Noah Slivinsky (triple, RBI), Zach Peaco (2 singles, RBI), Zach Roman (single, 2 runs), Jordan Matero (single, RBI, run) and Riley Sprague (single).

Also at Waldoboro June 30, the Camden-Rockport 9-10s pulled away from Waldoboro in the late innings and prevailed 20-6.

Leading the C-R offense were Jesse Fraser (4 singles, 4 runs), Cole Anderson (single, triple, 3 runs), Lucas Boetsch (single, 2 runs), Isaac Hall (double, single, 2 runs), Connor O’Dwyer (single, run), Braden Fisher (run), Tyler Wood (2 runs), Spencer Johndro (run), James Orne (two runs), Conrad Crans (run) and Simon Turner (run).

For Waldoboro, Wyatt Post (double, 2 singles, 2 runs), Ben Dever (run), Owen Jameson (double, run), Nathan Emerson (double, 2 singles, two runs), Duncan Morrell Jr. (single), Steven Thompson (single) and Tyler Simmons (single) led the offensive attack.

Josh Goldrup, Tyler Simmons, Nathan Emerson, Steven Thompson and Duncan Morrell Jr. all pitched for Waldoboro, giving up a combined 10 hits and 17 walks, while striking out seven.

For C-R, Anderson and Hall combined to allow three walks, while striking out 14.

At Waldo June 30, the Waldo County 11s took out Knox Suburban 12-2 in a five-inning game.

Alex McKenney and Colby Trask shared the mound for Waldo and allowed seven walks, with eleven strikeouts. Cameron Allaire and Adam Wilcox pitched for Knox Suburban and, combined, gave up 15 hits with six strikeouts and two hit batters.

For Waldo, Jacob Higham (double), Barrett Grant (single, run), Brandon Smith (triple, single, 2 runs), Trask (2 singles, 2 runs), Emmett Shell (2 singles, double, 2 runs), Alex McKenney (single, run), Eric Phillips (2 singles, 2 runs), Kyle Moore (2 singles, run), Anthony Fuller (single, run), and Mitchell Philbrook (run) contributed to the win.

Patrick Madden and Allaire each had a run for Knox Suburban. Also, Titus Kaewthong, Owen Hilt, Wilcox, Zach Robinson and Dallas Ball made it to base.

Waldo scored seven runs in the second inning, one in the third, one in the fourth, and three in the fifth. Knox Suburban scored two runs in the fourth inning.

At Belfast June 30, the Belfast 11-12s earned a 7-2 victory over Lincoln County.

Alex Flagg (3 singles), Sam Kulikowski (2 singles), Jesse Snyder (2 doubles, triple), Lucien Smith (single), Zach Darres (two doubles) and Soren Moesswilde (single, double) led the Belfast offense.

For Lincoln, N. Morton (single), C. Spear (single), B. Andrews (single) and W. Stevens (single) led the offense.

Darres and Kulikowski combined to allow four hits and three walks, while striking out 14 batters. Lincoln County pitching surrendered 12 hits and two walks, while striking out five.

Also at Belfast June 30, the Belfast 9-10s defeated Rockland 13-3 in four innings.

Zach Dyer had a tremendous day at the plate for Belfast, belting two home runs, including a grand slam and knocking in seven run. Also earning hits for the hosts were Stan Sturgis (triple, double, 2 singles), Skylar Perkins (single) and Garrett Hamlin (single).

Michael Dougherty (single), Connor Harvey (triple) and Michael Norton Jr. (triple) led the Rockland offense.

Sturgis went 2 1/3 innings on the mound, allowing two hits, while striking out three for Belfast. Perkins also allowed one hit, while fanning three in relief.

Logan Sheridan, Bennett Penney and Harvey combined to allow eight hits and 15 walks, while striking out five for Rockland.

Softball

At Nobleboro June 30, the Lincoln County 11-12s no-hit Waldoboro and earned a 14-1 victory in four innings. Stephanie Hill and Kasandra Mank pitched for Waldoboro, allowing two hits and 15 walks, while striking out one. Brie Wajer doubled for Lincoln County.
