Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Commissioner Roland “Danny” Martin has announced Cabela’s Retail store in Scarborough will be the site of the 2011 Maine moose lottery drawing.

The statewide lottery will take place June of 2011 at the Cabela’s Retail location in Scarborough. Cabela’s officials plan a full day of demos, seminars, and activities for this event.

The Maine moose lottery has been an annual event since 1980 and draws up to 1,000 spectators. The 2010 lottery had 49,000-plus applicants vying for approximately 3,000 tags, 10 percent of which are for non-residents.

The actual moose hunt is conducted in September, October, and November of each year depending on which part of the state entrants have selected to hunt.
