Bay Chamber Concerts will present a concert titled Authentic New Orleans Wednesday, July 14 8 p.m. at the Strand Theatre, 345 Main St. The following night, at the Rockport Opera House, Bay Chamber will celebrate its 50th anniversary season by hosting the return of Midori.

Big Easy in Lime City

The Louisiana Repertory Jazz Ensemble offers an opportunity to hear jazz the way it was originally played in its birthplace a century ago, when it was performed by the fathers (and mothers) of American jazz. The July 14 concert will include beloved standards and lesser known works performed by some of today’s greatest New Orleans jazz players.

Tickets are $30 to $40, discounted for subscribers and groups of eight or more. A limited number of youth tickets for those younger than 19 are available for $8.

Midori returns

The extraordinary, internationally renowned violinist Midori will return by popular demand to perform works by Beethoven, Bloch, Szymanowski and Brahms Thursday, July 15 at 8 p.m. at the Rockport Opera House. Midori will be accompanied by pianist Ozgur Aydim.

Tickets are $50, discounted for subscribers and groups of eight or more. A limited number of youth tickets for those younger than 19 are available for $8. This is a special anniversary event and includes a champagne reception.

Bay Chamber Concerts presents music year-round through two performance series: the Summer Music Festival during the months of July and August featuring classical, jazz and film events in the historic Rockport Opera House and Strand Theatre in Rockland; and the Performing Arts Series from October through May, showcasing a variety of classical, jazz and world music, as well as dance events in venues throughout the Midcoast.
