Swan Lake Workcamp, a joint effort by Swanville Community Church and Colorado-based Group Workcamp Foundation, is in full swing this week.

The nearly 400 participants, high school students from church groups around the country, arrived in Belfast July 4 for the week-long service camp. During their stay in Waldo County, the Workcampers — high school students from church groups around the country — plan to make improvements to 65 residences in need of painting, carpentry and roofing repairs.

Group Workcamp Foundation holds dozens of camps around the U.S. and in Latin America and South America each summer, with the dual mission of community service and strengthening participants’ Christian faith. This is the first Workcamp session in Waldo County.
