The spring 2010 Pen Bay Pilots U13 boys and U14 girls soccer teams recently wrapped up their spring seasons.

The Pilot squads were made up of girls and boys representing Midcoast communities from Thomaston to Belfast. The teams competed in the Soccer Maine Pine Tree Travel League and played in a number of tournaments against town and premier opponents from around the state, southern New England and Canada.

The teams started training in early March and play officially kicked off after the school spring recess. Over the Memorial Weekend the teams traveled to Foxboro, Mass. to compete in the annual Foxboro Memorial Tournament. The night of May 29 the Pilots took in a Major League soccer match at Gillette Stadium to watch the New England Revolution play the New York Red Bulls.

Over Father’s Day Weekend in June the teams competed at the Coastal Challenge Tourney at Bowdoin College in Brunswick, which brought to an end the 2010 spring season.

The Pen Bay U14 (eighth grade) boys team will begin its fall season in mid-August. There are a few openings on the team and any players that may be interested can get more details by visiting the Pen Bay Soccer Club web page at penbaysoccerclub.org or by calling 975-2277.
