The District 2 Little League double-elimination playoffs — which are essentially state-qualifying tournaments — continued July 13 as several young teams saw action throughout the Midcoast.

In softball, the Rockland 11- and 12-year-old team (2-1) beat Camden-Rockport (1-2) 12-6 and the Rockland 9- and 10-year-old squad (1-0) bested Waldoboro (1-1) 18-5.

In baseball, the Waldo County 9- and 10-year-old team (1-0) beat Rockland (0-1) 10-9, the Belfast 9-10s (1-0) defeated Knox Suburban (0-1) 25-2 and the Waldo County 10-11s (1-0) beat Waldoboro (1-1) 14-0.

Softball

At the Marge Jones Recreational Facility in Rockport, the Rockland 11-12s beat Camden-Rockport 12-6. Ashley Gardner pitched for Rockland and allowed eight hits and a walk, with a strikeout. Macy Buck and Julianna Haynes pitched for Camden-Rockport and, combined, gave up two hits and 18 walks, with 10 strikeouts.

For Rockland, Brianna Dugan (double, single, run), Ari Curtis (2 runs), Gardner (run), Sarah Penney (2 runs), Tracy Webster (2 run), Ireland LeBlanc (2 runs), Rebecca Boggs (run) and Megan McGonagle (run) keyed the offense.

Haynes (2 singes, 2 runs), Buck (hit, run), Alie MacDonald (3 singles, 2 runs) and Chyanna Hersey (2 singles, run) paced C-R’s offense.

At South Field in Rockland, the Rockland 9-10s defeated Waldoboro 18-5. Alexis Mazurek pitched for Rockland and allowed three hits and six walks, with seven strikeouts. Cassidy Benner started pitching for Waldoboro and allowed six hits and 14 walks, with three strikeouts. The names of other pitchers Waldoboro might have used were unavailable.

For Rockland, Mazurek (single, home run, 2 runs), Haliey Gross (2 singles, 3 runs), Gilley Davis-Oakes (triple, single, 3 runs), Kim Roman (single, 2 runs), Zoe Goff (2 runs), Emily Hutchinson (double, run), Shannon Ripley (run), Hanna Ames (run) and Nina Lavigne (single, 2 runs) keyed the offense.

For Waldoboro, Olivia Sevon (2 singles, 3 runs), Gabby DePatsy (single, run) and Cassandra Wadsworth (run) contributed offensively.

Baseball

At Walsh Field in Belfast, the Waldo County 9-10s downed Rockland 10-9. Brandon Reynolds, Joey Danna and Connor Kneeland shared the mound for Waldo County and combined to allow 10 hits and 10 walks, with nine strikeouts. Hunter Davis, Jack Freeman, Michael Dougherty and Connor Harvey pitched for Rockland and, combined, allowed 13 hits and six walks, with eight strikeouts.

For Waldo County, Liam Cail (single, double, 2 runs), Danna (2 singles, 2 runs), Kneeland (2 singles, 2 runs), Colby Furrow (2 hits), Tyler Simmons (run), Sam Goguen (single), Logan Curtis (single, double, run), Devon Davis (double, run) and Reynolds (run) contributed offensively.

For Rockland, Bennett Penney (single, run), Jack Wadsworth (single), Harvey (RBI-single, 2 runs), Dougherty (single, 2 runs), Michael Norton (2-run single, RBI-single, run), Freeman (single, 2 RBI double), Davis (run), Eric Glaser (run) and Kirt Ilvonen (single, 2-run triple, run) keyed the offense.

Also in Belfast, the Belfast 9-10s defeated Knox Suburban 25-2. Garret Hamlin and Stan Sturgis pitched for Belfast and allowed four hits, with seven strikeouts. Aidan Roberts, Korbin Daniels, Zach Collins, Mitchell Delfrate, Sam Townsend and Uriah Thongsopaaphone pitched for Knox Suburban and, combined, allowed 25 hits and 12 walks, with three strikeouts.

For Belfast, Sturgis (home run, 3 singles, 2 runs), Skylar Perkins (single, 3 runs), Hamlin (2 singles, double, 2 runs), Zach Dyer (home run, double, 2 runs), Dean Grass (triple, single, 3 runs), Konnor Hartford (triple, 2 runs), Tyler Bartlett (2 singles, run), Alex Newcomb (single, 2 runs), Nathaniel Johnson (2 singles, 3 runs), Rickey Smith (single, 2 runs) and Rudi Schnetzer (single, run) contributed.

For Knox Suburban, Isaac Keiran had a single and run, Collins a run, Will Davee a run and Townsend and Jack Moody both a single.

At Waldo, the Waldo County 10-11s beat Waldoboro 14-0. Alex McKenney, Brandon Smith and Kyle Moore pitched for Waldo County and did not allow a hit, but issued two walks and hit a batter, with eight strikeouts. Nicholas Grover, Isaac Eustler, and Brett Collamore pitched for Waldoboro and, combined, allowed eight hits, five walks and two hit batters, with five strikeouts.

For Waldo County, Matt Barlow (run), Barrett Grant (single, 2 runs), Colby Trask (single, 2 runs), Emmett Shell (double, single, 3 runs), McKenny (double, home run), Mitchell Philbrook (run), Moore (run) and Anthony Fuller (single, home run, 2 runs) keyed the offense.
