Geneva Lillian (Blanchard) McCorrison, 94, died peacefully July 14, 2010, at home.

She was born in Montville Nov. 10, 1915, a daughter of Everett and Nellie (Clement) Blanchard.

She attended Freedom Academy, graduating in 1933. She later graduated from Farmington Normal School, earning her teaching degree in 1939. Geneva also attended Gorham State Teachers College.

She taught school in Penobscot and Knox. Geneva married Stanley McCorrison of Montville June 22, 1940. They lived in Montville and operated a poultry farm. The family lived in Thorndike from 1945 to 1962.

Geneva was a member and Sunday school teacher at Thorndike Congregational Church from 1945 to 2010. She was also past Matron, Worthy Matron and Grand Ruth of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Some of her enjoyments included traveling to Europe and around the United States, sewing, cooking and playing the piano and organ. She very much enjoyed spending the winter in St. Petersburg, Fla.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Stanley McCorrison; a son, David McCorrison; a sister, Arneta Blanchard; and a brother, Malcolm Blanchard.

Geneva is survived by two sons, Melvin McCorrison of Greene and Stanley McCorrison Jr. of Burnham; five grandchildren, Lisa, Sean, Sharon, Morgan and Marc; six great-grandchildren, Lucas, Kyle, Kayla, Ethan, Austin and Isabelle; and two sisters-in-law, Madeline Blanchard of Thorndike and Winnifred McCorrison Hall of Zephyrhills, Fla.

Visiting hours will be from 6 -8 p.m. Friday, July 16, at Thorndike Congregational Church, where a funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 17. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Freedom.
