Midcoast Community Band is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, and a book is being written by a current band member. Betty Bilodeau has undertaken the responsibility of putting together a historical pictorial book filled with anecdotes.

Bilodeau would like to hear from anyone who has played in the band in the past to relate some fun happenings or remembrances and even the not-so-fun ones too. Parades, concerts, special musical trips, rehearsals, flatbed experiences, families playing in the band together, are all to be included in the book.

Bilodeau would like to know when players were band members, what instrument they played, how they came to join the band, how many years they played and stories of the times remembered. She would especially like to hear from anyone who was a charter member when Mary Davis started the band in 1986. Director Jo Anne Parker has several photographs of the band over the years, plus programs from almost all the events at which the band played – all of which will help Bilodeau piece together some of the band’s history.

Anyone with information to share is asked to e-mail Bilodeau at Bettyboop6533@yahoo.com. If there is a lot to relate, she will be happy to chat on the phone or meet over coffee.
