Together, the Belfast Masons and Maine Windjammer Cruises, based in Camden, co-sponsor the annual Belfast Area Super Drive. Area donors are not going to want to miss out on this event: Friday, July 30, from noon to 6 p.m. at the Masonic Lodge on Northport Avenue.

“We are very excited for this new partnership,” says Lisa Frazell, account executive for the American Red Cross. “The Maine Windjammer Cruises has been generous enough to offer a fantastic weekend cruise raffle, as well as give all presenting donors motivation to come and give the gift of life.”

All presenting donors may enter to win the chance for a free weekend cruise during the 2010 cruise season on one of the magnificent windjammers. Plus, presenting donors will receive a Red Sox T-shirt as well as a $100-off coupon for a cruise with Maine Windjammer Cruises.

Prizes are non-transferrable and not redeemable for cash.

On top of the chance for the great weekend getaway, all presenting donors may enter to win “Blood Donor of the Game.” This includes two tickets to a Red Sox home game, recognition on the field, a commemorative souvenir, and being recognized for the heroes donors really are.

“During the summer months, we tend to see our blood supply dip to lower-than-ideal levels,” Frazell said. “And, with the heat we have already experienced, we are not seeing any relief. Schools are out of session, donors are on vacation, and the high heat tends to keep donors away.”

There are still appointment slots available and the American Red Cross is looking for all eligible donors to come out and give the gift of life. To schedule an appointment, call 1-800-Red-Cross or visit
