On Thursday, July 29, Belfast Summer Nights will brings favorite rockers the Vicki Andres Band and Odlaw to the downtown corner of High and Main streets for a free concert from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

The self-taught Andres began song writing and singing as a toddler and playing guitar at 14, influenced by Stevie Ray Vaughn, Jimmy Page and the raw sounds of alternative rock. Her vocals have been described as a mix of Grace Slick and Ann Wilson with a little Melissa Etheridge thrown in. Her band features two talented musicians, the ever-in-demand Jason Dean on drums and Max MacFarland on 11-string bass, adding the perfect amount of edginess.

Waldo County’s OdLaw (yes, that’s “Waldo” spelled backwards) brings together songwriter/musicians with very different musical backgrounds to create an alternative, pop, country, blues, new/old wave sound. The power trio features Gary Grant on percussion; Sam Ladd, guitars and vocals; and bassist/singer Jerry Weaver. The band has an album in the works, which can be sampled at odlaw.org.

Donations to support the series are welcome, and lawn chairs, picnic suppers and dance shoes are recommended. For more information, call 322-7123.
